What is The PATH?

The PATH is Unbound Grace’s recovery discipleship program facilitated through our partnership with The Foundry and made possible with the help of local volunteer mentors. Real people, making a real impact, right here in Birmingham, AL.

How does it work?

Unbound Grace pairs volunteer “Guides” with “Journeyers”, men and women walking through rehabilitation and recovery at The Foundry. Guides and Journeyers agree to meet regularly for 12 weeks, developing meaningful relationships as they work through The PATH curriculum together.

Who is a Journeyer?

A Journeyer is someone who is ready to leave the wilderness of addiction. Most of our Journeyers are participants from The Foundry’s rehabilitation program.

Who is a Guide?

A Guide is someone walking with Christ, aware of their own struggles, and ready to disciple someone entering recovery. Our Guides are local volunteers from churches and the community of central Alabama.

What is the Purpose of The PATH?

The program's purpose is to provide accountability, encouragement, and discipleship while also building Christ-centered community as they transition out of rehabilitation and back into the real world.

What does the acronym PATH stand for?

Patience. Authenticity. Thankfulness. Humility. Inspiration was drawn from the Bible and the characteristics we believe are essential for lasting recovery from addiction.

“Make me to know your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths.” - Psalm 25:4

“I… urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love…” - Ephesians 4:1-2
